Pelagic fishing

achtergrond afbeelding

Pelagic fish species such as herring, mackerel, horse mackerel and blue whiting swim in shoals. The shoals are located with the aid of sonar equipment. This also gives an indication of the shoal’s size and depth. Pelagic fish swim throughout the water column. The nets used here do not touch the seabed.

The pelagic catch from PP Group's vessels is processed and stored directly in the factories on board. This is the most efficient processing method and it maintains the quality and freshness of the fish.

Thanks to the efficient catching methods, the CO2 footprint of pelagic fish species is considerably lower than that of other sources of animal protein.
